All of Avalon's products contain no parabens, harsh preservatives, synthetic fragrances or artificial colors. They are formulated with natural botanicals and are created with organic agriculture and long term sustainability.

Avalon's office and warehouse are 100% solar powered and they employ comprehensive reduce, reuse, recycle policy and practices. All proceeds from recycling are donated to non-profits. They purchase and use recycled office paper. They estimate that in 2007, they saved 73 trees, almost 43,000 gallons of water, 51 million BTU's of energy, 3,600 pounds of solid waste, and over 9,000 pounds of greenhouse gases.

Its products are formulated in compliance with EU Cosmetics Directive safe ingredient standards. More than 1,300 commonly used ingredients are banned in the EU due to known or suspected carcinogens or birth defect or fertility problems. Avalon uses none of these ingredients. 28% of Avalon's employees perform volunteer work in their community and a portion of the money Avalon earns goes to support environmental, social and cultural needs. Avalon has also been a supporter and sponsor of the Breast Cancer Fund in their mission to eliminate environmental causes of breast cancer.
