Wildlife Conservation Society

The Wildlife Conservation Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving wild life and wild lands. It began as the New York Zoological Society on April 26th, 1895 when New York State chartered the organization to advance wildlife conservation, promote the study of zoology, and create a first-class zoological park—the Bronx Zoo.

Present-day urban wildlife parks under the WCS umbrella include the Central Park Zoo, the Queens Zoo, the New York Aquarium, and the Prospect Park Zoo.

WCS has a substantial Education Division and seeks to help educate today's children and adults to become concerned about the survival of wild animals and wild habitats.

Notable Eco Activity

Since its inception, the WCS has:

  • helped publicize the decline of birds and mammals as far back as the late 19th century

  • begana series of wildlife surveys and projects in Kenya, Tanganyika (nowTanzania), Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, Burma, and the Malay peninsula inthe 1950's
  • presently conducts nearly 300 field programs in more than 50 nations

WCS since its formation has done a great job. I think today their main concern is to protect tigers worldwide. We all know tiger numbers is decreasing by every counting and men just want to destroy this largest cat species for their own benefit. WCS has even tied up with local authorities in various tiger-rich forests to stop tiger poaching and is utilizing advanced techniques for keeping tabs on numbers of wild tigers. Let's hope they will be successful in recovering the these big cat numbers again back to normal. We need to understand that if there were no animals, Life would end for all of us.

I'm very glad that there are such organizations which help to save animals lives. In fact, you take care of the survival of species which may extinct. Well, do you remember the song by Michael Jackson Save the Earth? It can be easily found at music search http://www.mp3hunting.com . So this song is dedicated to you. You help to overcome the bad impact of the climate change, of forrests cutting and you save the Earth. It is great! As for me, I'd love to join. I adore animals.
