World Wildlife Fund

The World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) was founded in 1961 by Julian Huxley, Max Nicholson, Peter Scott, and Guy Mountfort. During the early 1990's, their name changed to the World Wide Fund for Nature but they continue to go by the World Wildlife Fund in the US and Canada. All together they have over 50 country or regional offices and four Associate Organizations. Their base of operations is in Gland, Switzerland, where the organization was originally founded.

The WWF focuses on 6 major areas of conservation. These areas include forests, freshwater, oceans and coasts, species, climate change, and toxic chemicals. In each category, the WWF has set up a conservation program. These programs, known as Target Driven Programmes, aid them in taking the necessary steps so they may reach their goal of "saving our one and only planet."

If a business would like to work with the WWF, they must want to change the way they do business. Through agreements of mutual respect, transparency, and the WWF's right to criticize, they will join with any business that is willing to work and make the change happen. Each company may either join with the WWF through a conservation partnership, product licensing, the corporate club, or corporate sponsorship. They also work with aid agencies and non-governmental organizations.

Notable Eco Activity

The World Wildlife Fund is famous for their efforts to preserve wildlife.  By setting up conservation programs all over the world, they have worked towards protecting natural lands, oceans and endangered species.
