Aerial seeding

Aerial seeding is a method of sowing seeds by spraying them aerially, usually via aircraft. It is one of several broadcast seeding techniques and is most effective for geographically inaccessible areas. Seed is dropped from fixed wing aircraft or helicopters. Most often used to grow grass, legumes, and other soil binding plants, it is also applied to increase vegetative cover over burnt sites or barren lands over large geographical areas.

Environmentally, aerial seeding is helpful for soil conservation to help prevent soil from being eroded from the earth's surface or becoming chemically altered by overuse, salinization, acidification, or other soil contamination.
