Eco-activism

Eco-activism is a term used to describe a person or persons actively involved in the furtherance of environmental issues. It is a broad term, balanced at one end of the spectrum, by reformers and at the other end, by radicals.

Eco-activism appeals to a very wide spectrum of involved individuals, weather it be making green choices in their own homes and neighborhoods or lobbying for change at a global level, young and old alike. The first wave of Eco-activism was about preserving as much as possible what is left of our environmental heritage. The present wave is about saving today by regulating and reconciling that heritage with our fast paced industrial present. The next wave will be about investing wide scale in a green futures and finding ways to move towards a profitable sustainable ecosystem.

Earth Day is undoubtedly the world holiday for supporters of eco-activism, The Earth Day Network proclaims: “The 40th anniversary of Earth Day in 2010 will mark the beginning of the Green Generation: an age of sustainability and a break with the past.”
