How to celebrate the first day of spring

The definition of spring is "to move upward or forward in a single quick motion or a series of such motions; leap."

Leaping into Spring, I love that idea!

I thought that today we could mark the first day of spring by sharing one celebratory thing—please feel free to do so below!—that we are doing to usher in the Vernal Equinox.

For intance this is a great occasion to:

1. Spring to the phone and call your family and wish them a happy day!

2. Plant some of those seeds that you have ordered in little pots on your windowsill (don't forget to sing them a little song!).

3. Take a walk and smile at the people that you pass, maybe wishing them a "Happy Spring!"

4. Sprinkle some walnuts and cranberrries and sunflower seeds outside as a special treat for your birds and squirrels (did it this morning!).

5. Write a spring sonnet or poem and share it here or with someone you love.

I'll leave you now with a little spring poem and a smile and a wish for a very happy day!

oh my squirrel

I love the way you, self determinate,
incline
your hands curved modestly
inward
cupping your breastbone
earnestly
near the region of your
heart
shyly upright on two legs
warmly
as if you have something serious to
share…

Today, 3/20, is Fred Roger's birthday so be a good neighbor and wear a sweater in his honor. http://tinyurl.com/dk4omn

Tomorrow is not only the first day of spring but World Down Syndrome Day (3/21 for 3 copies of chromosome 21). So continue to be neighborly and say "hi" to someone you might have been too shy/scared to talk to before! They're a part of your community too. ;-)

oh what a glorious spring day this is! we went for a walk this morning in one of our favourite spots in the city. the birds were singing and dancing. the red-wing blackbirds, one of my favourites, were in full force - at least the guys were getting ready to court the gals. and the geese were carrying on something fierce. i smiled a lot. and so was everyone else.

i'll work on the poem. we'll see what springs to mind!

the flowers surely bring,

let's how this sweet warmth stays! xo

with sweet aromas
on bright or pastel petals
spring declares she's here
