How to enjoy nature by taking pictures

I have always been a bit of a bird watcher but when I started taking pictures of birds and nature I realized just how much I was missing. When I began looking through the lens of my camera, I noticed one bird in particular, a fledgling House finch, who had no feet at the end of her short legs and an irregularly formed beak. She would come to my ground feeding bird station with her parents and lean on them and other birds while she fed. As the days went by, she became more adept at standing on her own and was able to perch on the edge of my wide-brimmed stone bird bath for a drink. Around May, I stopped seeing her and feared the worst.  But then Fall rolled around—lo and behold—there she was sporting a very handsome raspberry mate with whom she was bond-feeding. She was now able to flutter and balance on certain branches in the tree but could not access any of my hanging feeders so she always ground fed. To be able to feed Grace, as I have named her, is for me one of life's gentle mercies.

This little creature opened a door in my heart through which a new love of the natural world now streams unhindered. I am awed by her simple, natural grace and thankful for my connection to her. So many birds and animals struggle with adversity, I am astonished at the nurture, love and camaraderie that they so naturally exhibit.

Sweet story , it shows how one can have their eyes opened to a world that many do not see..
It can be painful, enlightening yet ultimately joyful
Oh the joy of learning to use ones eyes well !
Thank you for that Lucy
