Here's how you can participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count:
1. Go to the GBBC website (have a look at the 2009 GBBC PowerPoint presentation if you like).
2. Print a Regional Tally sheet—first enter your postal code and state. Then you can print a copy of the bird species tally sheet for your area.
3. At the bottom of the page you can download a blank data form (PDF) of the general information the GBBC asks about your bird observations.
4. Count birds! You may count birds anywhere for as little or as long as you wish during the four-day period. Tally the highest number of birds of each species seen together at any one time.
5. Enter your data. Data entry for 2009 will be available at 7:00 AM ET on February 13th and will remain active until the deadline for data submission on March 1st. Enter your observations and report your counts by completing an online checklist at the GBBC web site.
Come visit us at the Super Eco flickr group, where it is "For The Birds" month, and share some of your wonderful bird sightings. Don't forget to enter our bird contest! So grab your tally sheet and cameras and i'll see you over the fence!
