Reusing cotton swabs: obsessive or thrifty?

How far do you take the whole repurpose, recycle, and reuse concept? For instance, do you wash and reuse aluminum foil? I don't, and I don't feel too badly about it. Yet. What about used plastic zippered storage bags? I don't do that either, and I feel horribly guilty about it. Sigh. What about....Q-tips?

Yeah, this is a new one on me, too. I knew that cotton swabs, those useful little things we stick in our ears, have a zillion and one other uses for which they weren't originally designed. I'm okay with that (and so is my laptop, also known as a Crumb Repository). But...used ones?

Although I can't imagine having either the patience or the forethought to cut off the used cottony portion of a Q-tip and then use the rest for art projects or as paint brushes, I have total awe for those who do. I mean, this is recycling at its finest, and finding little ways like this to get more use out of something, no matter how small, can inspire you to start thinking differently about recycling. Which in turn may inspire other people. And eventually we are all thinking differently about what we use, what we resue, and what we throw away.

And that can't be a bad thing for our planet. In fact, I'm all for it.
