Social media is the name of the game in today's greening global community. Connect your thread to the spiderweb network of green blogs (like this one!), link-sharing sites like Digg, social networks like Facebook and MySpace—and hot new microblogging tools like Twitter.
Twitter allows you to share the microcosm of your thoughts ("tweets" are limited to 140 characters) with a macrocosm of people (more than 2 million users). Being on Twitter is like being inside a giant brain. With synapses firing off all around you, there's a high signal-to-noise ratio—but when new people and fresh ideas connect, inspiration's not far behind. Poke around for a few people whose interests pique your curiosity and "follow" them. You'll start seeing their messages in your Twitter "stream." They'll probably follow you back. Connections grow virally; before you know it, you'll be exchanging ideas and resources with a whole community of people with interesting backgrounds and something to say. Stay tapped in to your stream from your computer or text in from your phone.
As it turns out, the green world is using Twitter to push their causes forward with a full-court press. The best way to find interesting green people to follow is to poke through the "Following" list of other eco-minded Twitter users. Here are a few lists to get you started.

- Switchboard has another simple list.
- This savvy list was compiled by a green Twitter user.
- This insider list emphasizes environmental resources.
- Green parents will enjoy this list.
- @algore—yes, it's really and truly Al Gore!
Finally, don't forget that more time texting and typing means a bigger carbon footprint. Sometimes, the greenest choice is simply to unplug—after one last Tweet, of course.

It's so hard to keep up with them, isn't it? Yours is a good starting place! Thanks for sharing.
