Sarah Palin: prepare for greenification

This will be my toughest challenge yet: convince Sarah Palin to go green in 250 words. Ummm....suuuure. Why don't I just reverse the rotation of the Earth while I'm at it? Lil Wayne and Paris Hilton were pieces of vegan cake compared to this.

This is Palin we're talking about, a woman who still denies that global climate change is human-influenced even though the temperature in the state she's the governor of has risen nearly 4 degrees over the last 50 years. Sarah Palin actually sued the federal government when the Department of the Interior listed polar bears as a threatened species, and now she's involved in a spat with actress Ashley Judd and the Defenders of Wildlife based on her practice of shooting wolves and bears from helicopters. Yeah, this is a bit more difficult than just asking her to install some CFL bulbs.

Now, to be fair, the Defenders of Wildlife are definitely using Palin's notoriety to bring attention to the practice, and she's already taken plenty of heat for it. So, I won't criticize her for shooting wolves, but will rather point out a few simple things she can do to get in better with the green community. From the baby steps department:

  • Recycle all of your newspapers. You know, the ones that you read every day, which would be...
  • For hunting trips, get one of these Spanish hybrid helicopters. They use only 1/3 of the fuel of a normal chopper. Killing bears has never been so energy efficient!
  • Follow through. You just released a plan to ensure that half of Alaska will run on alternative energy by 2025. That's definitely a more ambitious and progressive plan than "Drill Baby Drill" and it's the biggest step you've made yet. I know I saved any praise for the end of the post, but good work.

One of us....one of us....

1) Ashley Judd is an idiot.
And you know she's (Sarah's) not recycling her newspapers, how?
and She's using the helicopter she has...why bring a 'new one' into the world?
and as you state, she's working better than anyone else to bring alternative energy to Alaska...
Oh, and its funny that you mention 'global climate change' instead of the heretofor 'global warming'...because the earth is not warming....it is changing....its a polar shift. Do you know how cold it's been in overall in the US?

Thanks for your comments, Snuggle1. Obviously, I have no way of knowing what Sarah Palin does with her newspapers. That comment in the post, and several others, are intended as humor, only.
In defense of global warming, I can only say that every major scientific organization and climatology expert in the world agrees that the earth is warming and that it is a serious problem. Though 1.4 degrees in a century may not seem like much, it is exponentially greater than any other shift in temperature over the course of a century in recorded time. I don't have room for many citations here, but I'll include the Pew Research Center: http://www.pewclimate.org/global-warming-basics/basic_sci...

Thanks again for your comment.
