Organic champagne? Check. Carbon offsets? Check. Vegan chocolate chip cookies? Check. Eco-bling? Check. You have everything you need for the perfect eco-friendly Valentine's Day. You even have a Valentine. The only thing missing? The perfect feng shui.
Feng shui?
Yeah. The energy flow through your home or environment. Great flow means, well, great flow. In other words, when you've mastered the art of placement and flow, things in your life just go well. At least, that's the theory. So you want your love to last? Try a little feng shui magic.
You can go a little crazy with the idea, and there are multiple schools of thought about it (it's all about the bagua, baby!). You could consult your local geomancer, or a feng shui practitioner, but going it on your own is more fun.
- Go wild with hearts! Heart-shaped stones. Heart-shaped crystals. Heart-shaped, well, hearts. In twos, if you like.
- Crystal light. You can try hanging a chandelier in your Relationship Corner (we'll get to that in a moment). If that's not practical, crystals themselves are said to have qualities that enhance the love in your life. Try rose quartz, ruby, hematite, and amethyst.
- Take notes. This isn't strictly feng shui, but so what? Write down your love wishes on a piece of paper and stow it safely somewhere in your Relationship Corner.
So what's with the Relationship Corner? Here's where the multiple schools of thought complicate things. Some say it's simply the southwest corner of your home or bedroom. That's easy. Others insist that proper orientation of your particular house with the bagua can only be done by a practitioner wielding a Luo Pan.
Happy Valentine's Day.
