Best green books for kids

Children learn to take care of the Earth the same way you do: one step at a time. Since curling up with a good book (and Mom or Dad!) should be part of every child's day, we think it's only natural to instill a little eco-consciousness through the stories you read. From storybook classics like The Lorax and The Giving Tree (you can even get a Giving Tree activity book) to how-to guides on eco-projects you can do with your kids, the books you share today with your child help instill a sense of green wonder and respect for the Earth.

So we didn't want to merely present you with a list of the best green children's books we like. Instead, we went all the way and pulled together a list of the best lists!

Whether you choose to launch an eco-crafting initiative or fly under the radar with stories that put an Earth-conscious spin on childhood tales of adventure and fun, weaving green into your child's outlook becomes only natural with books. What do you say—turn over a new leaf?

Thanks for all the great resources. We'll be greening up our kids' bookshelf during the next round of birthday gifts. Great list!
