Earth Day countdown: 3 days left

Let's hang out on Earth Day, 'k? Sure, we're bound to run into each other at the local Earth Day event ... But we want still more. We want you to let it all hang out, undies and all, flapping about in the hot, hot sun. That's right: today is National Hanging Out Day, and we want you to hang your clothes out to dry.

Now, we've talked about the eco-friendly benefits of clotheslines before and groused a bit about neighborhood associations that won't allow them. That's inspirational and all, but since there are only 3 days left until Earth Day and we really really want to see everyone starting fresh green habits, we thought we'd hang out a few pointers.

  • Hang between the lines Check local regulations to make sure clotheslines are legal in your neighborhood.
  • Find the perfect clothesline We've come a long way, baby ... Indoor racks, spinning racks, retractable lines—you name it, Huddler reviews it.
  • Get cracked Snap your clothes before you hang them to prevent wrinkles.
  • Tumble out stiffness Get jeans sitting down again with a quick tumble in the dryer before putting them away.
  • Vinegar is your friend How can something so bitter make your clothes so sweet? Add vinegar as a softener, to remove stains and more.
  • Must-read tips Avoid the most obvious mistakes with tips from experienced line-dryers.
