Eco-networking via LinkedIn

Being an eco-activist sometimes resembles nothing more than spinning around like a (hand-cranked?) broken record. You repeat the same message over and over and over again, until someone sits up and realizes "Hmm, those facts add up—and oh hey, that actually makes sense! Maybe you're not a hippie eco-freak, after all ..." It takes a while for some people to assimilate new information and ways of doing things, especially if they seem contrary to how they've always done them. It's important to keep getting that message out there.

Here's a new way to eco-evangelize that you might not have thought of: your professional networking profile at LinkedIn. Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace—and yes, LinkedIn—can be a sneakily effective way of keeping green ideas in front of people who might not otherwise seek them out. Fittingly enough, the Ecopreneurist has come up with a list of ways to make a bigger (and greener) impact on LinkedIn.

  1. Figure out how to present a green face to the world.
  2. Find green connections.
  3. Add applications that help you stay active.
  4. Join green groups.
  5. Update your status and present a fresh face.

Nudge your profile closer to "power player" with all the deets from the Ecopreneurist. And don't forget other social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. We can show you how to get started on Twitter and use it for eco-activism, social networking, sharing green ideas and much more.
