Tap out on bottled water

If you're still feeling inspired after yesterday's 5 eco-flicks worth seeing now, you may want to add another documentary to your list. Tapped, the movie, dips into the big business of bottled water. It's a behind-the-scenes examination of an industry it describes as being determined "to privatize and sell back the one resource that ought never to become a commodity: our water."

Tapped's web site FAQ takes on the big questions:

  • Isn't bottled water safer than tap water? (Not necessarily.)
  • Is bottled water actually unsafe? (Most is, but some brands appear questionable.)
  • What about the recent reports that there are pharmaceuticals in our drinking water? (If it's in your tap water, it may be in your bottled water as well.)
  • Is bottled water regulated? (Yes, when it is imported or sold between state lines.)
  • Could the plastic in water bottles pose a health risk? (Recent research indicates cause for concern.)

Find more questions and answers on both the site and, of course, the movie itself.
